Our team is made up of an international group of dedicated outdoor professionals who are passionate to help people enjoy and flourish in the wilderness, and this has helped us become the thriving company we are today, committed to maintaining the highest standards and consistently offering the very best adventure experiences in the area. We take your vacation very seriously and we look forward to opening the doors of this part of the world to you.
We live in Huaraz. The Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash are our backyard. By focusing 100% of our energy on adventures in this area, we have simply become very good at it! In addition, we don't just sell our trips; we go out there and guide them. We are a small and personable company, often answering the telephone to provide information and then lacing up our own boots and sharing the mountain experience with our guests. For almost 20 years we have helped people experience the magic of Peru, Huaraz, and the Andes Mountains.
Who are you trusting your vacation to? Time to meet some of the people who can’t wait to show you an amazing adventure in Perú…
Program Director: Jenn discovered climbing during her teens and was drawn to the vertical immediately. With a B.A. in Outdoor Recreation and Education, Jenn began her professional career with Outward Bound filling many positions and ultimately developing & directing their mountaineering program in Patagonia. She has climbed most of the peaks you can name in the Cordillera Blanca and currently spends her professional energy getting YOU the information you need to get enrolled on one of our trips. You will no doubt exchange emails and phone calls with her as you are putting together your trip and she will be the one to make sure that your experience in the mountains is flawlessly executed. And you may see her flash past you on her mountain bike as you acclimatize around Huaraz!
Program Safety Coordinator, Instructional Staff: Ted helped create Skyline Adventures in 2001 and worked as our head guide through until 2007 at which point he began to place his focus on staff training and program safety, and is currently acting as our risk-management coordinator. With a two decades of guiding under his belt as well as a strong background in education, even though he spends his time in an office now rather then out in the hills, he continues to set and uphold standards of excellence for our alpine and trekking staff and ultimately for the safety and quality of the experience that our guests receive. He is also the owner of the Sierra Andina Brewing Company in Huaraz so look out for some tasty brews at your resupplies and of course during your celebration banquet at the end of your expedition!
Mountain Guide, Instructor: One of the most impassioned climbers in the Huaraz area we know… if he is not working in the mountains he is almost definitely out there playing, developing a new rock site or looking for a new adventure on an unclimbed peak. Micher began bouldering & rock climbing at 15 years old and at 16 took a weekend trip to Alpamayo with some friends (FYI most people take 5+ days to climb this peak) and hasn’t really stopped since then. From 2006-2010 he participated in the UIAGM guides course in Huaraz and upon graduation began working with Skyline as one of our most talented and professional high altitude alpine guides. Besides his adventures all over the Sierra of Peru, he has climbed in Bolivia, Argentina, Ecuador, Columbia, Austria and Germany. You’ll definitely see him in the guidebooks for numerous first ascents and with luck you’ll see his name on your trip roster as one of your expedition’s guides!
Trekking Guide: Gladys was born about 50 kilometers north of Huaraz in a small town called Yungay. She moved to Huaraz for high school and then university where she earned a degree in tourism as well as completed all of her coursework in order to earn her guides certificate. Gladys, with an inherent fascination for the world beyond the city walls and her delightful social character pointed her naturally in this direction. Besides being one of the few female certified trekking guides, Gladys is an avid personal climber & mountaineer, bird watcher (we’d go so far as to say she is an expert on the subject), accomplished trail runner, and to put the icing on the cake, she also speaks Spanish, Quetcha & English! She has traveled all through South America and the northwest United States, Mexico, and Nepal. Gladys is a truly spectacular companion to have along on any journey, if you’ve signed up for a trek, she might become your best friend!
Mountain Guide, Instructor: Alessandro began guiding in the Cordillera Blanca in 2016, making the big transition from a climbing lifestyle in the Alpes to a climbing lifestyle in the Andes!
Originally from Italy, his formative adventure years were in the Alpes and Himalaya, where at 22 years he decided that the mountains would be a part of his life both professionally and personally. At 30 he began his UIAGM guides course in Peru and the Cordillera Blanca became his new work & playground ever since.
He speaks Italian, Spanish and English fluently and has worked an impressive variety of trips with Skyline over the years, including motivating local middle-schoolers to the summit of a glaciated peak, instructing alpine skills courses, trekking with university programs and our more traditional guiding of big, burly mountains.
Mountain Guide, Instructor: Carlos can trace his love for the mountains back to when he was a 7 year old boy who knew that the great adventures to be had outside were part of his destiny. In his university years, he learned quickly from experienced climbers who had much to teach in all modalities of the alpine world, and found a passion for seeking out and opening new routes. Having been included in the big-list of Piolets d’Or, a prestigious recognition for alpinists, he decided to pursue his guides certification from the UIAGM and make his climbing “career” official. Carlos has climbed and guided in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Tanzania, Peru, USA & Venezuela. He holds many certificates from the Guides Association of Venezuela including rock, high-mountain, & WFR, his IRATA level 1 and is one exam away from his UIAGM alpine guide certification. He’s full of adventure stories – which means he is full of adventure – and never has a group come back from a trip with Carlos under-impressed with their full experience in the mountains.
``Adventures is not in the guidebook and beauty is not on the map”
We believe we should tread lightly & leave no trace. We value the lessons that the natural world has to teach us. We want you to fall under the spell of the mountains and then do the work to protect and preserve them once you are back home.
We believe in the power of people. We build relationships and honor them, in times of abundance and in times of need. In community we are stronger, more resilient, more capable of achieving our goals.
We are ready to have unique adventures with each one of our guests. While we have well-crafted programs and plans, we are always listening, looking, and adapting as the situation requires. We are here for you, now, this time, to make the most of your expedition.
We might think we know the world inside and out. But Peru has a history so rich and knowledge so ancient, we'd be fools not to open ourselves up to a little perspective boost!
